John M. Kramer is Distinguished Professor of Political Science at the University of Mary Washington. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Virginia and has taught at Mary Washington since 1971. In 2002, the Virginia Social Science Association honored him as the “Outstanding Political Scientist in Virginia” and in 2008 the University of Mary Washington bestowed upon him the Grellet C. Simpson Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. Mary Louise Kramer has had a distinguished career practicing law with the Richmond, Va. based firm, Two Rivers Law Group, where she is a Senior Partner specializing in Workmen’s Compensation law. She is a graduate of the University of Richmond School of Law, where she was a member of the Law Review.
In 2017 John funded a scholarship in memory of his mother, Helen Walsh Kramer who he credits for inculcating in him the love of reading.
