Class of 1969
For their 25th reunion, the Class of 1969 established a scholarship to honor Classics Professor Laura V. Sumner. Class of 1969 representatives include Jean Polk Hanky and Patricia "Patti" Boise Kemp. Jean's 1994 reunion booklet noted that she is, first and foremost, a homemaker, but she does work for the Virginia House of Delegates every January through March. Jean enjoys reading, cooking, knitting, politics, and their home at the "rivah". Patti Kemp graduated with a BS in physics and later received an MS in Computers in Education from Shenandoah University. Mrs. Kemp became a teacher and taught AP Computer Science and AP Calculus at Woodbridge High School. She also served on a software development committee for the Virginia Department of Education and as a consultant and national workshop instructor for Texas Instruments' Professional Development Services. Patti has been an active supporter of Mary Washington and has served on the UMW Foundation Board of Directors and UMW Alumni Association Board of Directors.
